About me
I am a history and politics graduate from the University of York who loves meeting new people and learning new things. I am an avid sports fan, and have played tennis since the age of four and football since the age of nine. I have reached county level tennis and have also been actively involved at my tennis club, both with assisting coaching and helping to organise tournaments. I love working with children and encouraging them to progress. I have also played football to a county level and played for my Universitys first team where we ensured a double promotion. I am always excited to try new things including bungee jumping and sky diving. I am an avid traveller and love to immerse myself in new cultures.
During my history and politics degree I gained excellent analytical and writing skills, graduating from the University of York with a 2.1 (Hons). I am a confident and outgoing person demonstrated by me always looking to challenge myself, for instance taking the decision to move to China. I worked as an Educational Ambassador in the thirteenth best school in China after being TEFL trained. Here I was responsible for teaching the English language to primary school children. I tailored my lessons to each class, who had different needs, and aimed to make them as engaging and proactive as possible. I was also recommended as an individual tutor by one of my colleagues, so have experience holding individual sessions for students. My passion for teaching is also highlighted as I volunteer taught sixteen year olds at an underprivileged school in Nanjing. Here their English was not strong, and initially they were not interested in learning English. However by using resources like films to engage them I was able to see a vast improvement in their English. Using a range of different activities, and seeing what they responded to best, was how I made this work a success. My achievement in China is demonstrated by me being voted the highest ranked foreign teacher in the primary school by my peers.
