I am a 40 year old female. hold a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences currently working in a leading Pharmaceutical company. I recently tutored my daughter for her 11+ exams in 2016 to secure admission into Tiffin Girls School. I am able to offer tuitions for 11+ entrance exams and KS2 Maths and English subjects for significantly improved results in school.

I have tutored my daughter for her 11+ exams in 2016 to secure admission into Tiffin Girls School. I would also like to add that my daughter passed her Slough and Buckinghamshire exams with flying colours. With her Slough score, she would have easily qualified into the Langley Grammar School. During 11+ process preparation phase, I discovered my passion for teaching and would love to bring my expertise to students seeking to prepare for the 11+ exams. Having recently gone through the 11+ process, I am extremely familiar with the exam format for different schools (Tiffin, Slough, Bucks) and can advise on the areas of preparation across range of topics (Maths, English, VR and NVR). Through my motivation, patience, calm attitude, knowledge, efficiency and strategic approach I have been able to transform my Maths “hating” daughter who until Year 4 was struggling in school at lower sets to love the subject so much that eventually she started to enjoy it. Through my continued guidance and her relentless efforts, her primary school has placed her in the top 3% of the students achieving excellence in Maths nationally. My approach to teaching is simple – to work in relaxed environment and focus on the following key elements: Teach, Practice & Review Mistakes, Revise and then slowly move into the intensive testing phase wherein they get accustomed to working under time pressure. The students are welcome to bring in their own material but I would be more than happy to share my extensive resources for all subjects (Maths, English, VR and NVR) that I have recently used for my daughter. There was a lot of emphasis on vocabulary in 2016 exams and I have a fantastic resource of a word bank and at least 6 marks worth questions have appeared from this word bank across Tiffin Girls and Slough exams. The second area I would focus would be English comprehension and this will appear as regular activity during my tutoring with range of comprehension tasks provided to improve child’s grasping power. During the teaching phase and at the end of completion of each topic, I would conduct mock test on that topic to get an insight into the student’s understanding of the topic. Another key area would be to review mistakes, so as to identify weak areas and then work towards mastering the topic. Ahead of the exams will also include a Revision Phase, wherein I would be happy to include a revision of key topics in Maths and English to ensure the child has a solid foundation and a clear understanding of each topic. In the end, there will be an intensive testing phase, where I can provide mock exam test papers to enable the students to work under time pressure. I can provide separate sessions to prepare for Tiffin Stage 1 and Stage 2 to focus on key exam elements – Maths, Comprehension and Creative Writing. For Creative Writing, I have some good resources for model stories and can share a list of good phrases to use in stories.
