About me

I’m a Medical Writer working for a pharmaceutical company in Oxfordshire. Two years ago I completed my doctorate degree in molecular genetics from the University of Warwick. Prior to my PhD I achieved a first class BSc (with Hons) in Biology and worked for several scientific outreach organisations. Student mentoring During my doctorate degree I was employed as a student mentor, this involved supporting undergraduate and post graduate students witt a number of biology and chemistry subjects, both in one-to-one and group situations. I was also an Aimhigher Associate and STEM ambassador, both roles involved me planning and leading lessons for groups of ~20 students aged 16-18. Online tutoring I have also worked for an online platform to create scientific e-learning modules and quizzes for gifted and talented students aged 13-18. Topics included genetics, evolution, the human body clock, microbiology and pathology. Working with young students For the last ten years I have been involved in science outreach, trying to increase interest in science among young students, aged 5 and above. This has involved me organising, designing and manning scientific stands at science and nature festivals throughout the country.
